FISA - Lantra Joint Statement on Chainsaw Refresher Training

26 Sep 2014

Operators involved in "commercial harvesting"; defined as those working on contracts for felling and extraction of standing/windblown plantations, including small scale felling, thinning and fell to waste operations, require  appropriate certificates of competence or regulated qualifications (formerly known as "CS units") such as those provided by Lantra or City & Guilds. Commercial level refreshers must be carried out by a trainer accepted by FISA.

For all other scenarios operators will require appropriate certificates of competence or regulated qualifications (formerly known as "CS units") such as those provided by Lantra or City & Guilds. Refreshers delivered by qualified trainers (not required to be FISA accepted) are sufficient. Examples of other scenarios include contracts for forest management, fencing, arboricultural operations, cleaning and scrub clearance.

See attached chart detailing the above.

FISA will continue to undertake Chainsaw Refresher Training - offering good value by pricing the courses close to cost.
