FISA Course Programme details

RUFC 01 – Refresh and update Felling course - Harvesting

This course is ideally designed for the harvesting operators working regularly on commercial production sites and will cover update training a variety of felling and takedown techniques. It will cover trees sizes up to and in excess of 2 guide bar lengths. (Provided such trees are available on site and the operators have CS32), and cover the requirements expected in standing crops.

The trainees will be given instruction on site preparation, risk assessment, PPE and equipment preparation. It will provide instruction on take down techniques and the use of a variety of aid tools including lift wedges and hydraulic wedge techniques where available and requested.

A Refresher Record will be issued for all attendees with specific recommendations.

RUBC 10 – Basic Refresh and update Course - Non Harvesting

This course is designed specifically for the Management operators working regularly in forest management operations such as scrub clearance, brashing, fencing and other management operations. It will cover basics saw operations and demonstrate a variety of basic felling and takedown techniques. It will cover trees sizes up to 1½ guide bar lengths.(Provided operators have CS31/32.)

The trainees will be given instruction on site preparation, risk assessment, PPE and equipment preparation.

A Refresher Record will be issued for all attendees with specific recommendations.

RUSC 01 – Basic Refresh and Update Course - Supervisors

This course is designed specifically for people supervising sites where chainsaw operations are taking place or may take place at any time in the future. It will provide the attendees with an understanding of the basics of saw operator techniques covered in the FISA courses RUFC01, RUBC01.

The attendees will be given an overview on all aspects of saw operations and provided guidance on management techniques when managing chain saw operatives. The course will cover all tree sizes up to and in excess of 2 guide bar lengths.

The supervisors will be given instruction on site preparation, risk assessment, PPE and equipment preparation.

A Refresher Record will be issued for all attendees with specific recommendations.
