PROJECT TITLE:

FOREST HAULAGE

 

OBJECTIVE OF THE GROUP:

The transportation of timber to market is a critical part of the supply chain. As production increases, we need to ensure that forest owners are aware of the need for appropriate standards in roading and access.  This group will promote safe operation in loading and timber movement in the forest. It should liaise with the relevant Timber Transport projects in the various regions and countries.

GROUP TARGET:

To produce and print a forest haulage safety manual and FISA guide

 

RESOURCES &/ FUNDING REQUIREMENTS:

To source funding for a safety video and in cab GIS/GPS system

 

KEY ACTIONS:

Priorities and Action Plan 2017-19

The group has been tasked with producing  a safety manual and accompanying video for forest hauliers.  It consults with industry training providers to ensure future loader training will meet specific forestry requirements.  It is working together with the Timber Transport Forum to give information on navigation systems for forest hauliers.
